Make Way for Our Leviathan Lager and Behemoth Blonde Ale!

Ontario craft beer is taking over the province quickly, and deliciously. Currently, there are more than 240 craft breweries in Ontario creating unique beverages that are taking the beer market by storm! Canada’s Wonderland is getting in on the action too, partnering with our friends at
Great Lakes Brewery to create our very own craft brews!

Great Lakes Brewery opened its doors back in 1987, making it one of the oldest craft breweries in Ontario. With their years of experience and devotion to great beer, it was easy partnering with them to put the roar in our Leviathan Lager and Behemoth Blonde Ale!

Lots of thought and preparation went into creating the Leviathan Lager and Behemoth Blonde Ale. What flavours would we choose? Would it be an ale, lager, IPA? We wanted to make sure whatever our choice, our guests would enjoy a refreshing and flavourful taste that perfectly complements spending a great summer day at the park. In our opinion, we nailed it!

To create our beer, we brewed on Great Lake Brewery's 7 Barrel pilot system. This copper system, consisting of a mash/lauter tun, hot liquor tank, and kettle, can produce up to 700 litres per batch. A lot of time goes into the brewing process. Depending on the style of beer, it ranges from two to four weeks for an ale and up to three months for a lager. There are several steps and processes the beer must go through before it can be served and enjoyed. We can’t give away all of our secrets of what goes into our beers, but we can reveal how we did it!

First, we mashed in the malt in water to create the wort, a sweet sugary substance that would eventually become the beer.

Second, we boiled the wort and added hops. Hops give the beer a distinct flavour, aroma, and offer bitterness and dryness.

Third, we then can the beer in our own customized cans.

Fourth, the beer is ready to be served at Canada’s Wonderland!

Canada’s Wonderland is fully licensed so you can try our new Leviathan Lager and Behemoth Blonde Ale during your next visit. They will be available at all of our bar locations including the new Minebuster Bar, located in Action Zone, and Medieval Refreshments, located in Medieval Faire!

Cheers!
