New Season to launch with Award-Winning Poutine: The Kicker

On a cool, October day in 2017, in a top secret location, planning for the 2018 season was underway. Details were already solidified and announced for Lumberjack, Flying Canoes and an expanded Splash Works. With an already impressive lineup of food options around the park, how could Canada's Wonderland improve the guest experience?

Poutine is undoubtedly one of the most iconic Canadian dishes. So it makes perfect sense to create two new signature poutine stands to showcase some new favourites, as well as the classic. Look for the new Apres Poutinerie and Action Zone Poutinerie, which will replace the Bistro 81 food truck.

With planning underway for the new Poutinerie locations, Canada's Wonderland was on a quest to find new menu options to supplement those delicious fries topped with cheese curds and gravy traditionally found elsewhere.

An internal competition was held among various dining locations at Canada's Wonderland to create a new signature poutine dish to be featured at the Poutinerie stands. Who would take home the poutine trophy and be crowned with a menu item of their creation?

Six variations were submitted for the competition.

The judging was done by the Canada's Wonderland Director of Food & Beverage, the Corporate Chef, as well a few other park Directors.

The winning Poutine, "The Kicker", was created by the park's Cornerstone Restaurant team.

The Kicker consists of fries, diced chicken, BBQ sauce, Chipotle Baja sauce, Frank's Red Hot Sauce, mozzarella shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, green onions, and nacho cheese sauce.

In addition to The Kicker, the Poutinerie locations will also offer signature Butter Chicken Poutine and Peameal Bacon Poutine.
