All the yummy things you can eat and drink at WinterFest in 2023

The most magical time of the year has returned to Canada’s Wonderland and with WinterFest comes all the amazing festive food and drinks! There are more than 200 items on offer this holiday season, so you could spend an entire visit roaming the park to try all the savory snacks, hearty entrees and delectable desserts.

But where to start? Here’s are highlights from the 2023 WinterFest menu that we believe are worth checking out.

Funnel Cakes

You can’t visit Canada’s Wonderland without having a funnel cake, and this WinterFest we have two new holiday options for guests! Try the Snowflake Funnel Cake (at top) with vanilla ice cream, encased in a cookies n’ cream shell, featuring a vanilla icing drizzle, holiday sprinkles and marshmallows (available at Festive Funnel Cake locations). In Charlie Brown’s Christmas Town, kids will love Rudolph’s Funnel Cake with chocolate soft serve ice cream served on a red funnel cake, with strawberry sauce and topped with a maraschino cherry just like Rudolph’s nose!

Also try: Other festive funnel cakes returning this year include Candy Cane, Gingerbread and Classic Strawberry. Try these flavours on churro bites (photo below) or deep-fried butter tarts too!

New Hearty, Loaded Smashed Potato Bowls

If you’re a fan of soft, creamy baked potatoes and love hot, hearty fare on a cold night, try our new Smashed Potato Bowls* at Season’s Spuds, located on International Street. We take massive baked potatoes, smash ‘em down and then load them up with your choice of topping: cheese, chives, bacon bits and sour cream, potato chowder, seafood chowder or beef stew.

Fun Options for Kids

WinterFest is an enchanting time all around for kids and families, and that goes for the food experience too! Head over to Charlie Brown’s Christmas Town and pop by Snowflake Kitchen to try Comet’s Holiday Mac n’ Cheese! These colourful spiral noodles are just as entertaining as they are tasty. We’ve also decked out our Holly Jolly Corn Dogs in a red and green batter to get everyone in the holiday spirit.

Also try: The BEST Hand Breaded Chicken Tenders* your kids will ever have (available at Lazy Bear Lodge), plus Tempura Vegetarian Mac n' Cheese* or Turkey Dinner Mac n’ Cheese*, and the Classic* or Savory Grilled Cheese Sandwich* (all available at Alpen Cheesery).

Amazing Holiday Entrees

If you’re looking for filling festive fare, we’ve got you covered with tasty options available throughout the park. Among the new offerings this year are the Smoked Brisket Dinner* at Marketplace Festive Feast, the succulent Pork Steak* at Lazy Bear Lodge, the Carved Turkey Sandwich* at Holiday Dining Hall and the Crispy Chicken Holiday Sandwich* at both Chicken Shack and Roadside Chicken.

Also try: This author’s returning favourite, the Turkey Dinner Ball (available at Candy Cane Poutinerie), a ginormous Smoked Turkey Leg or the Tandoori Chicken Dinner* (Marketplace Festive Feast).

Savory Snacks

Feeling peckish but not into a whole meal? Head on up to Caribou Crossing in Frontier Canada to try our new Blooming Onion. We batter a colossal onion, deep fry it to crispy yumminess and serve with a tangy aioli for dipping. For some portable snack options, try the popular Maple Bacon on a Stick or a warm Kabanos Sausage on a Stick (available at The Winter Hare).

Delectable Desserts

We're obsessed with deep frying our desserts. Have you ever tried a deep fried Oreo? If not, this is an experience not-to-miss and for WinterFest we have Deep Fried Golden Oreos just for the holidays! Find them in Charlie Brown’s Christmas Town at Carrousel Funnel Cakes. We also have Deep Fried Cheesecake, drizzled in chocolate sauce, available at Roadside Chicken. If you’re looking for something a little lighter, but just as tasty, the Crepe house is back on International Street where you can try a strawberry crepe (red crepe with strawberry sauce, chocolate shavings, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and holiday sprinkles) or Nutella (green crepe with Nutella, bananas, chocolate shavings and whipped cream).

Also try: Pouding Chômeur or Bread Pudding (Marketplace Festive Feast and Holiday Dining Hall) and Sticky Toffee Pudding (at Lazy Bear Lodge), plus various sugar cookies, macarons, chocolate-covered brownies, Rice Krispies and cheesecake on a stick (Sugar & Spice).

Holiday Drinks

Along with our hot chocolate, classic mulled wine and hot apple cider, guests can enjoy one of five signature WinterFest cocktails including Northern Lights (pear and blueberry flavours with Blue Curacao, lemonade and vodka), Midwinter Sprite Spritz (Sprite, ginger syrup and whiskey), Roasted Hazelnut Old Fashioned (hazelnut syrup, Sprite and whiskey), Mistletoe Mojito (cranberry and lime juice, mint, sugar and Malibu Rum) and Icy Winter Breeze (lemonade, Sprite, Blue Curacao, vodka, gin and Malibu Rum).
