Reminding our guests about the loose article rule on rides

(Updated June 2023)

Another exciting season is underway at Canada’s Wonderland! While the first priority for guests is having fun, our primary focus is on providing a safe environment in which they can do so. That’s why we’d like to remind everyone of a very important safety policy at the park. It’s one that’s been around since we first opened in 1981 and is one you’ve likely seen or heard mentioned in a lot of places.

Loose articles are strictly prohibited on rides.

This includes purses, backpacks, stuffed animals, hats, keys and mobile devices – essentially anything that is not secured.

We’re bringing extra awareness to this policy now because we want to emphasize that mobile phones are included in this list of restricted items. Everyone these days is on social media, connected to their phones, filming video or snapping selfies. There is no shortage of fun experiences to capture at the park through photos or videos. Yet while we typically enjoy seeing guests sharing their park experiences on social, we do not want guests taking pictures or videos while on the rides.

(There are very few exceptions to this policy that include Swan Lake, KidZville Station and Jokey’s Jalopies.)

Loose articles could seriously injure someone, and the guest who did not secure that loose item would be liable for the resulting injury to another park guest.

The loose article policy is highlighted in many places: on the park map, on our website and on signage at the rides. Our ride operators also mention it over the speaker before every ride cycle. If a guest is seen on the ride with an unsecured phone or other loose item out on the ride, that guest will be warned and could face possible ejection from the park, without refund. If the guest is a Season Passholder, the pass could be revoked.

We ask everyone to help keep each other safe, and please take this rule seriously.

We have bins at most of our attractions where you can safely store your belongings while you ride. In addition, lockers are available for rent. Smaller items may be secured in jacket pockets, cargo pockets or waist packs so long as they do not interfere with the restraint system.

You may have seen on-ride video on Canada’s Wonderland’s official social media channels. It’s important to note that footage is recorded by park staff with securely mounted cameras, which undergo a thorough safety check. Safety is always our number one priority.

We thank everyone for their cooperation and assistance in following this policy and helping to remind other guests about it too. Parents, it’s worth talking to your kids about as well. We want everyone to enjoy our park and our rides, but to do so safely.
