2017 Charity Duck Drive at Canada’s Wonderland
August 4, 2017Canada’s Wonderland’s Third Annual Charity Duck Drive has returned in support of the SickKids Foundation. Not only does our fountain look a little brighter during the month of August, but we are all making a positive impact on the lives of thousands of children who visit The Hospital for Sick Children every year.
Last year, we raised over $65,000 and are looking to exceed this number for 2017! Between August 1-31, you can purchase a Rubber Duck (either at the Park or online) and toss it into the Park’s Royal Foundation on International Street. These Rubber Ducks will be $5 for one and $20 for five. Proceeds from these Rubber Duck sales will be donated to the SickKids Foundation.
On Thursday, August 31, 2017, the first lucky duck selected from the Royal Foundation will be awarded the Grand Prize: a 2017 Nissan Micra. The second lucky duck selected will drive away as the winner of the Second Prize: A two-year lease of a 2018 Toyota C-HR. Both cars have been generously donated by Maple Auto Mall. The Third Prize winner will receive five Season Passes to Canada’s Wonderland for the 2018 season!
The everyday heroes this fundraiser supports include kids like Anisa, Dorothy, Ava, Andrew, and many more. Anisa was born four weeks premature and was immediately sent to The Hospital for Sick Children where she was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition, Larsen Syndrome. She has undergone more than 10 operations at SickKids, including two to straighten her neck and one to correct her dislocated knee and hip. Anisa is a strong young girl with a positive outlook on life. Although she has spent a lot of time at doctors’ appointments and in operations, she always reminds herself to “never give up.”
Learn more about the courageous children you are supporting, like Anisa.
The Hospital for Sick Children is a healthcare community dedicated to improving the health of children. Their mission is to provide the best compassionate family-centred care, be trailblazers in scientific and clinical advancement, and to prepare the next generation of leaders in child health.
