One of the big attractions at the WinterFest holiday event is skating on the beautiful Snow Flake Lake in front of the iconic Wonder Mountain. With all the surrounding holiday lights, it’s like a picture-perfect Christmas card! If you’re curious about how you and your family can get skating, here’s the most important things to know.

Everyone needs to reserve a skate time online in advance before you come to the park.

Skate sessions are 30 minutes each and because there is a limit to the number of people on ice at one time, we ask guests to reserve a session. Here's how:

  1. Go to canadaswonderland.com and click ‘tickets’. Look for WinterFest Ice Skating and click ‘buy now’.
  2. In the online store, choose either “WinterFest Ice Skating $5” or “Ice Skating & Skate Rental $12”. Indicate the number of skaters, choose your date and then skating time. Proceed to cart and checkout.
  3. You will get a note asking you to sign an online waiver. All skaters must sign this waiver online before coming to the park. Parents and guardians will need to sign on behalf of guests who are younger than 18.

Have your own skates? You can bring them, but make sure to carry them safely.

If you're bringing skates, you'll still need to reserve your skate time and book a session online for $5. If you'll be carrying skates around the park, please have them in a sealed bag or make sure the blades are covered by skate guards. If your skate blades are not covered, you will not be permitted to enter the park. Lockers are also available to rent in the park and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

We also have skates to rent.

A skate session with rental (includes helmet) can be booked online for $12 per guest.

On your visit date, redeem your skating voucher and receive a wristband BEFORE heading to the rink.

All guests must redeem their e-ticket skate voucher at the redemption counter, located inside the park to the left of front gate (past The Mistletoe store). Your wristband will correspond to your ice time.

  • For those renting skates: Plan to pick those up at least 30 minutes prior to your skate session. They can be picked up at Northern Lights, on the south side of International Street.
  • Bringing your own skates: Once you’ve received your wristband, proceed directly to the ice rink at your skate time. We recommend guests arrive in advance of their time so they’re ready to lace-up as soon as their session begins.

Special notes for kids under 48”

They cannot skate alone and they all need to be wearing skates. Children under 48" need to be accompanied on the ice by a supervising companion skater. They are also required to wear CSA-approved helmets. We provide them free of charge, but guests are also welcome to bring their own. We also have skate-assist push devices for kids who need a little extra help on the ice.

For the safety of all our guests, please abide by our ice rink rules.

This includes:

  • Remembering to wear your face covering in the lace-up area and while on the ice.
  • No speed skating, roughness or weaving through other skaters.
  • No mobile phones, cameras or electronic devices on the ice. For photo opportunities, we recommend guests have their photo taken near the entry and exit points by a friend or family member who is off the ice.

Still have questions? Check the FAQ on our skating page for more details.

Enjoy!
